Join us in flying kites to celebrate Kathara Deftera and enjoy light refreshments!

Clean Monday, known as Kathara Deftera in Greek, marks the beginning of Lent in Greek Orthodox tradition. This cultural event is widely celebrated in Greece as a day of personal renewal and togetherness. It is traditionally observed with outdoor gatherings, kite flying, and the sharing of simple foods.

If you plan on driving to UCLA, please note that parking is available at Parking Structure 4, located at 221 Westwood Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90095. We highly recommend purchasing your parking permit in advance for $17, as there will be no attendant on-site and parking is limited.

From Sunset Blvd., enter north campus at Westwood Plaza and proceed straight to the underground parking structure. A walking map from UCLA Structure 4 to Janss Steps is available here.

For passenger drop-off near Janss Steps, the most convenient location is the Wilson Plaza drop-off area at the entrance to Lot 4 before entering the underground parking structure, near the intersection of Westwood Plaza and Charles E. Young Drive North. From there, it is a short and direct walk to the base of Janss Steps.
