The Peter J. and Caroline Belz Caloyeras Endowment for the Arts supports the presentation of fine and performing arts related to Greece, from the ancient period through the modern day. Funds from the endowment are also used to bring distinguished lecturers to speak on topics related to the art, history, or archaeology of Greece and to support theatrical and musical performances.
In 2023, the Caloyeras Endowment for the Arts supported a one-day conference on the Generation of the 1930s, bringing scholars from Greece to UCLA to deliver lectures. Endowment funds have also been used to present photography exhibitions in the Center’s gallery space. In 2024, the Endowment supported the production of In the Footsteps of St. Demetrios by Cappella Romana. In 2025, the Endowment supported our Bronze Age programming, co-hosted with the J. Paul Getty Museum in conjunction with the Getty Villa exhibition The Kingdom of Pylos: Warrior-Princes of Mycenaean Greece. This programming included “Pylos and Minoan Crete,” “Between the Minoans and the Mycenaeans: Craft Technologies in the Second Millennium BCE Aegean,” and “Messenia to Mesopotamia: New Directions in the Art, Archaeology, and Reception of the Second Millennium BCE.” In 2026, the Endowment supported a performance of Antigone.
