The beautiful village of Vamvakou, which lies on the west side of the Parnonas mountain range at an altitude of 2,963 feet above sea level, has been our base for the last few weeks and we look forward to finishing up our work here in the coming days. The revival of the village of Vamvakou has been the goal of a number of energetic young residents, supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

UCLA and SFU students will be working here for the next week, completing the catalogue of kilims produced by the weavers of Geraki and contributing to the preservation and documentation of this region’s cultural heritage. We thank the Vamvakou Revival team for their support and interest in our project and we look forward to continuing our work in Lakonia throughout the fall and next summer!
