Call for Submissions: 2025 Hellenic Photo Competition – Greece: East Meets West

Published: March 23, 2025

The West Coast Consortium of Hellenic Studies Programs is pleased to announce the 2025 Hellenic Photo Competition, an annual opportunity that invites undergraduate and graduate students from universities across the West Coast of the United States and Canada to explore Hellenic culture through photography.

This year’s theme, “Greece: East Meets West,” encourages participants to reflect on Greece’s unique position as a cultural, historical, and geographical bridge between Eastern and Western traditions. Submissions may capture artistic expressions, architecture, language, cuisine, or daily life that embody this intersection. Students are encouraged to think creatively and consider diverse time periods—from antiquity to the present day.

The first-place winner will receive a new iPhone, while the second-place winner will receive a $100 Amazon gift card. The deadline for submissions is September 1, 2025. To learn more about submission guidelines and eligibility, please visit the official competition page.

The photo competition is organized by the West Coast Consortium of Hellenic Studies Programs, coordinated by Gefyra (“Bridge”), a partnership between the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Centre for Hellenic Studies at Simon Fraser University and the UCLA Stavros Niarchos Foundation Center for the Study of Hellenic Culture. The Consortium fosters cross-institutional collaboration and educational initiatives that highlight the richness and complexity of Hellenic culture in global contexts.
