Peter J. and Caroline B. Caloyeras Endowment for the Arts

The Peter J. and Caroline B. Caloyeras Endowment for the Arts supports the presentation of fine and performing arts related to Greece, from the ancient period through the modern day. Funds from the endowment are also used to bring distinguished lecturers to speak on topics related to the art, history, or archaeology of Greece and to support theatrical and musical performances.

In 2023, the Caloyeras Endowment for the Arts supported a one-day conference on the Generation of the 1930s, bringing scholars from Greece to lecture at UCLA. Funds from the Endowment have also been used to stage exhibitions of photography in the Center’s space.

Mary Calfas Janos Program Fund

The Mary Calfas Janos Program Fund supports music-related programming. The fund, established by the Janos Family Trust, is named in memory of Mary Calfas Janos (1929-2022), a UCLA alumna and Los Angeles resident who loved opera, reading, and Greek food, music, dance, and art. Calfas Janos was an active member of the Hellenic University Club of Southern California, which was conferred to UCLA in 2019.

Steinmetz Collection Endowment in Hellenic Studies

The Steinmetz Collection Endowment in Hellenic Studies, established in 2018, supports the study of Hellenic culture at UCLA through the acquisition, processing, and preservation of Library resources, Library exhibits and programming related to Hellenic studies, under the direction of the University Librarian.

Peter and Vivi Demopoulos Endowed Graduate Research Fellowship

The Peter and Vivi Demopoulos Endowed Graduate Research Fellowship supports all costs related to graduate student travel to Greece for research purposes, primarily during the summer.

James and Carolyn Kolokotrones Endowed Graduate Research Fellowship

The James and Carolyn Kolokotrones Endowed Graduate Research Fellowship supports all costs related to graduate student travel to Greece for research purposes, primarily during the summer.

George and Barbara Olympios Family Endowed Graduate Research Fellowship

Gus and Judie Christopoulos Award in Modern Greek

This award recognizes students for their excellence in the first year of Modern Greek.

The Aristides G. Alexopoulos Endowment Student Fund

A substantial gift from former UCLA Professor Nicolaos (Nick) Alexopoulos and his wife, Sue Curtis Alexopoulos, has established The Aristides G. Alexopoulos Endowment Student Fund in memory of Nick’s brother, Aristides.

Vlahakis-Hanks Undergraduate Scholarship

The new Vlahakis-Hanks Undergraduate Scholarship aims to promote Hellenic values, leadership, and social and environmental responsibility. This annual undergraduate scholarship is available to currently enrolled students in the UCLA College of Letters and Science. Eligible students must demonstrate leadership in Hellenic causes, environmental issues, or community empowerment.
