Georgia Caras Vasila

Class of 1945

Georgia Caras Vasila is one of the few women in her class to major in Math. She was a Sorority member of Delta Zeta, where she had several close Greek friends. Georgia taught Math at Jefferson High School and elsewhere in LA. For her outstanding contributions as a teacher, she was awarded a Certificate of Distinction by the City of Los Angeles. She’s the proud grandmother of two UCLA graduates. What a pleasure to share a coffee and hear about her life as a mathematician and as a mom. What an honor to meet a woman whose intellectual passion is Math — algebra, geometry, and order — and whose roots are Greek.
